Frequently Asked Questions

We Have the Answers

There's a lot to consider when purchasing a new kitchen. Not all companies follow the same policies or standards of practice.

At Alex Lee Kitchens, we work closely with our customers. We operate with transparency and address your concerns quickly and effectively.

Here are the most commonly asked questions about our business, complete with comprehensive answers and guidance.

If you have a question about Alex Lee and the services we offer, chances are it's answered here.

  • This depends on your requirements and choices.

Complete kitchen design and installation usually fall into one of three price groups:

    • Up to £15k

    • £15 - 25k,

    • over £25k.

You can get a good idea of the furniture, appliances, and fit work we can provide by viewing our case studies, which are split into these categories.

Prices vary more depending on your choice of doors, work surfaces, and appliances.

As a smaller and more flexible independent kitchen company, Alex Lee can work to your requirements and get more from your budget without compromise. Most of our customers are surprised by the quality they can afford with us.

  • Our German kitchens are from Pronorm. They’re a complete solution - cabinets, doors, and fittings come together. There are four ranges to choose from. Two handleless, and two handled.

Pronorm is an exceptional kitchen manufacturer with a limited number of UK distributors.

Its product ranges are unique and innovative. Featuring stunning modern looks, flexible, modular furniture arrangements, and functional space saving innovation.

Pronorm is based in Germany, so there is a six week lead time on its products.

  • Alex Lee Kitchens’ provide the full service from concept to completion, with dedicated project management throughout.

We can do as much or as little as you like. For instance, if you are looking for a supply-only kitchen, or want to use our plan and design service but your own fitters or trades, we can help. Most of our customers enjoy the full process with us including help with after-purchases.

Call, email, or complete an enquiry form today to see which services we can tailor to your project.

  • Firstly, we get to know you and the project.

We discuss the styles and features you would like and any renovation work that may be required. Choosing an English or German kitchen and creating a “perfect situation” wish list is a great starting point.

Then we come out to you, measure the space, and discuss your thoughts in further detail.

Then we begin designing your new kitchen. We produce detailed floor plans and 3D images and invite you to the showroom to talk you through it. At this stage, nothing is set in stone. But we will have a good idea of the level of products and work required, so we'll be able to provide some pricing options.

Then we work toward the final design and arrangements. We can make as many changes as you like. There is no obligation until we are all agreed and happy to go ahead. When you want to confirm, we require a deposit. This allows us to process your paperwork and send out the necessary trades to survey the space.

  • This depends on your choice of products and the availability of our fit teams. These factors can vary, so let us know about your time concerns or constraints and we will confirm what we can do. As a small independent company, we are often more flexible and able to accommodate your specific needs.

  • Fitting your new kitchen will take a minimum of two weeks, but usually no more than three.

There is a preliminary week for preparing the space in which we remove the old kitchen and send in the electricians and plasterers. This work is typically carried out Monday to Friday.

The following week your fit team will complete most of the installation and - depending on your choice of work surface - the appropriate company will come out to template. They will return the following week to install the surfaces and then the fitters can complete the kitchen.

  • We keep your current facilities and appliances in use and accessible for as long as we can. The particulars of what you will or won’t be able to use at any given time are entirely dependent on the project. In any case, let the fitters know, they are always happy to work with your needs and will do all they can to make the transformation as easy as possible.

  • Our trade teams (electricians, plumbers, and plasterers) and fitters are local, independent contractors who come highly recommended. Most have worked in close partnership with Alex Lee Kitchens for many years and all have been carefully vetted, usually working in our own showroom and homes first (we won’t let anyone in your home that we wouldn’t have in ours).

They are not employed by Alex Lee but are instructed by our dedicated project manager. Clear processes and close communication founded on strong work relations ensure the best service and quality of fit, which is why we provide dedicated project management at no extra cost.

  • Yes, you can use the trades that we recommend, others that you know, or any combination of the two.

Your dedicated project manager will oversee the process, communicating with all parties and providing the necessary information and support.

If you have any special requirements or requests regarding trades or building work please get in touch to see how we can accommodate them.

  • Payment structure is split into three steps: (1) A 25% deposit on the value of goods confirms your order, the remainder of which (2) is due ten days prior to the work commencement date. (3) All of your fit and trades fees are paid to the appropriate party on completion of the work so you are in control at every step.

Payment methods are flexible to suit you. Cash, card, or bank transfers are all available. Many customers like to visit the showroom to use the card machine and have a chat, but this can also be done over the phone.

  • We offer a 12-month warranty on the fit (provided you use our fit teams).

As Rugby’s only AEG Premier Partner we offer five-year guarantees on AEG appliances.

Components from Blum come with a lifetime guarantee.

All other products have a guarantee or warranty provided by the manufacturer, some of which you may need to register for. If you have any issues with any components of your kitchen that fall under the manufacturers' guarantee then we recommend you go directly to them for assistance.

If you are unsure or would like any help from us then please email, or fill out an enquiry form and we will do everything we can to help or point you in the right direction.

  • Don’t worry, you’re in good hands and we have a lot of experience to draw from. We address any issues as swiftly and effectively as possible.

If any problems occur during the fit we are on hand to talk to in-office. Likewise, our trade teams and fitters know to contact us. In the case of something like a damaged door we will normally have found out before you and will already be putting it right. If it’s a stock item (without a lead time) then we will look to have it replaced during the fit period. If it is a German or bespoke product there will be a six-week lead time, in which case we will install the damaged goods for the meantime and update to the replacement model when it arrives.

If you have changed your mind about an aspect of the design or installation after agreeing and committing to purchase then we can and will help here too, but it may incur further costs.

Speak to your dedicated project manager or fit team about any issues or concerns you have, we are all very accommodating in this regard.

  • The return policy depends on the product, specifically the manufacturers’ appropriate warranty or guarantee.

Should you not be happy with a product once it has been delivered to the site we will do all we can to replace the goods. Replacement is usually not a problem but might not always be possible and can incur a stocking fee.

Any item that is considered to have been installed, partly installed, or removed from its packaging, and any bespoke or made to order items cannot be returned.

  • We don’t supply flooring but work in line with a number of great, local flooring companies that we are happy to recommend and can tee up the appropriate work dates with.

Besides that, if it’s a new kitchen, you’ll be hard-pressed to find something we can’t help you with, so get in touch today and see what we CAN do.
